Role: Teaching Assistant
Location: Wandsworth, South West London
Salary: up to £650 per week
Contract: Term-time only (approx. 39 weeks per year)
About the SchoolHorizon Teachers are seeking a Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive two-form entry primary school located in the heart of Wandsworth. The school caters to children aged 4 to 11 and is known for its nurturing ethos and strong commitment to both academic achievement and emotional well-being.
Ideal Applicant- Experience working or volunteering in a primary school or educational setting
- Confident in supporting children's learning and development in a classroom environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliable, flexible, and calm under pressure
- Basic qualifications (e.g. GCSEs) required; relevant TA qualifications preferred
- Understanding of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to child welfare
Key responsibilities- Support the class teacher in delivering high-quality lessons across the primary curriculum
- Provide one-to-one and small group support, including pupils with special educational needs (SEND)
- Assist with the preparation of learning materials and classroom resources
- Help manage pupil behaviours and ensure a safe, positive learning environment
- Supervise children during playtime, lunch time, and school transitions
- Maintain accurate pupil records and contribute to tracking progress
- Work collaboratively with staff, parents and external professionals when required
- Uphold schools' values of respect, inclusion an achievement
