Teaching Assistant

£103 - £125 per annum
Inner London, Inner London - South East
Long term
Start date: November 2025
Iâ??m delighted to be supporting a well-regarded, inclusive special school in South London that provides education for children with complex needs and severe learning difficulties.

As someone with over ten yearsâ?? experience recruiting for Londonâ??s SEND schools, Iâ??ve had the privilege of seeing what truly exceptional SEND provision looks like.

This school is one of those settings: warm, creative, and deeply child-centred, with a team that puts communication, curiosity, and connection at the heart of everything they do.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who genuinely wants to make a difference â?? a SEN Teaching Assistant who brings empathy, patience, and positivity to every interaction.

Youâ??ll be joining a collaborative and highly skilled staff team, supporting children aged 2â??11 with a range of needs including profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), autism, and sensory processing differences.

No two days are ever the same â?? you might be supporting children through sensory play, helping to develop communication using PECS or Makaton, or working alongside therapists to implement personalised learning plans. The schoolâ??s approach is nurturing, structured, and joyful; staff are encouraged to be creative and responsive in how they engage pupils.

What Youâ??ll Nee

  • A genuine passion for working with children with additional needs
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive, can-do attitude
  • The ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience supporting children with SEND (in school, care, or therapy settings)
  • Confidence in using visual, sensory, or communication-based strategies (training can be provided)

What the School Offer

  • A welcoming, forward-thinking team that values collaboration and compassion
  • Ongoing training and professional development
  • A modern, purpose-built environment designed to meet the needs of every learner
  • Opportunities for progression and specialist training in SEND approaches
  • A truly rewarding career where youâ??ll see the difference you make every day

If youâ??re someone who finds joy in helping children communicate, learn, and grow â?? and youâ??re looking to join a team that shares your values â?? Iâ??d love to hear from you.
