About the role:

Horizon Teachers are looking for a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils 1:1 and in small groups across KS3KS4. You'll be supporting pupils with social, emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide general classroom support across KS3 and KS4, assisting with pupil engagement to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Provide focused 1:1 and small group support to deliver targeted intervention.
  • Support the class teacher in planning, preparation, and delivering engaging lessons.
  • Support pupils with SEND and additional needs.
  • Assist in creating a positive, inclusive, and safe environment.


What do you need to succeed in this role?

  • Has experience supporting children with SEMH, autism, ADHD, or related needs (in school, care, or youth settings).
  • Brings calm, empathy, and excellent communication to challenging situations.
  • Is confident with behaviour management and de-escalation strategies (Team Teach or equivalent desirable).
  • Shows a genuine belief in every child's potential, no matter their background or history.
  • Understands the importance of boundaries, consistency, and restorative practice.
