Do you have experience working with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) â?? particularly Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming, inclusive secondary school in South East London. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced TA or psychology/education graduate who wants to make a real difference in the lives of young people who need extra support to thrive.
The Role:
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEN, including those with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and learning difficulties.
  • Assist teachers in creating a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Implement behaviour and emotional regulation strategies in line with studentsâ?? individual support plans.
  • Build trusting relationships with students, acting as a consistent and supportive adult in their school experience.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff to ensure students make academic and emotional progress.
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Has previous experience working with SEN students (essential); experience with SEMH or behaviour support is highly desirable.
  • Is patient, resilient, and empathetic with a genuine passion for supporting young people.
  • Can stay calm under pressure and manage challenging behaviour in a positive, consistent way.
  • Is a team player who communicates well with staff, students, and parents.
  • Ideally holds a psychology, education, or related degree â?? though this is not essential.
