Are you a compassionate, proactive Teaching Assistant with the confidence and expertise to support a child with additional medical needs?

A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in South West London is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a young learner with Type 1 diabetes. The pupil uses a phone-based glucose monitoring system, and we are looking for someone who can confidently support their medical needs while ensuring they are fully included in all aspects of school life.


About the Role
  • Providing 1:1 classroom support 
  • Monitoring and responding appropriately to blood glucose alerts via a phone-based system
  • Liaising sensitively with teaching staff and parents to ensure the child’s safety and wellbeing
  • Promoting independence, confidence, and full participation in learning and school activities
  • Supporting the wider classroom environment when appropriate

Who We’re Looking ForWe welcome applications from candidates who:
  • Have experience supporting children with medical needs, particularly Type 1 diabetes
  • Hold relevant medical qualifications (e.g. nursing, healthcare, paediatric care) and are interested in transitioning into education
  • Are calm, attentive, and confident responding to medical information
  • Are nurturing, reliable, and committed to safeguarding and inclusion
  • Have previous school or childcare experience (desirable but not essential for medically qualified candidates)
