SEMH/SEN Teaching Assistant to join its team from
September 2026 on a
full-time basis.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and additional
Special Educational Needs (SEN) within a nurturing and highly supportive educational environment.
The RoleThe successful candidate will:
- Support pupils within small class settings
- Provide targeted support on a 1:1 and 2:1 basis
- Assist in implementing individual education and behaviour support plans
- Help create a safe, engaging and positive learning environment
- Support pupils in developing social, emotional and communication skills
- Work closely with teachers, therapists and other professionals to meet pupils' individual needs
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
The Ideal CandidateApplicants should:
- Have experience working with children with SEMH needs and/or SEN
- Be patient, adaptable and committed to supporting vulnerable learners
- Have strong behaviour management skills and a calm, consistent approach
- Be able to build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues
- Demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Be available to work full-time from September 2026
Desirable Qualifications and Experience- Team Teach training/qualification (highly desirable)
- Previous experience within a specialist, alternative provision, SEN or SEMH setting
- Understanding of trauma-informed approaches and restorative practice
- A rewarding and varied role within a specialist educational setting
