Teaching Assistant (SEND) – Daily Cover Basis | Hayes | Immediate Start

Horizon Teachers are working with a SEND school based in Hayes that is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their team on a daily cover basis, with an immediate start.
This opportunity offers the potential to progress into a long-term role and, for the right candidate, could lead to a permanent position within the school. It is an excellent chance to gain experience in a supportive environment while determining whether the school is the right fit for you and vice versa.

The role involves providing 1:1 support to children and young people aged 3–19 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them access the curriculum and fully engage in school life. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support staff to ensure pupils receive the tailored support they need to thrive both academically and socially.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is patient, proactive, and passionate about supporting children with additional needs.

In the Role as a Teaching Assistant, you will:
  • Provide 1:1 support to pupils with SEND, assisting with their learning and personal development.
  • Support pupils in remaining engaged, focused, and motivated during lessons.
  • Assist the class teacher in adapting learning activities to meet individual needs.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and confidence within the classroom.
  • Support pupils' emotional, social, and educational development throughout the school day.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and other Teaching Assistants to provide consistent and effective support.
The Ideal Candidate the school is looking for is a Teaching Assistant who:
  • Has experience working with children in a primary, secondary, or specialist SEND setting.
  • Has previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
  • Is patient, caring, and committed to helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.
  • Is confident supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small group settings.
  • Possesses strong communication skills and a proactive, positive attitude.
