Position: Primary SEN Teaching Assistant
Contract: Full-time / Long Term
Start Date: September 2026
We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Esher, Surrey. You will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to support pupils with additional needs, helping them access learning and thrive both academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with special educational needs
- Adapt learning materials and activities to meet individual needs
- Support pupils’ social, emotional and behavioural development
- Assist in implementing EHCPs and personalised learning plans
- Promote a positive, inclusive and safe classroom environment
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents and external professionals
- Monitor and record pupil progress and contribute to review meetings
- Help manage behaviour and encourage independence
Requirements- Experience working with children, ideally within a primary or SEN setting
- Understanding of SEN needs such as ASD, ADHD, or speech & language difficulties
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Patient, empathetic and adaptable approach
- Knowledge of behaviour management strategies
