Horizon Teachers are currently working with a welcoming and supportive SEND school based in Islington, seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team. This specialist setting caters for children with Autism, providing a nurturing and structured environment where pupils are supported to achieve their full potential.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone looking to work closely with a pupil on a one-to-one basis, providing tailored support both inside and outside the classroom. The successful candidate will play an important role in helping pupils develop confidence, independence and key life skills.
The role as a Teaching Assistant -- Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with Autism.
- Supporting the pupil to engage with learning and classroom activities.
- Using individual strategies to support communication and emotional regulation.
- Encouraging social development and independence.
- Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staff.
- Building positive relationships and maintaining a safe, supportive learning environment.
The ideal candidate will have:- Experience supporting children or young people with Autism and/or additional needs.
- A patient, caring and adaptable approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to remain calm and positive in challenging situations.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with SEND.
