Are you an experienced SEND teacher assistant looking for long-term role in South London?
We’re looking for a passionate SEND Teacher Assistant to join a supportive specialist school in Merton. The school works with primary and secondary pupils with needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder and Speech, language and communication difficulties, with a strong focus on helping each child feel safe, included, and confident.
This school provides a highly supportive and nurturing place to learn and they pride themselves around the positive and inspiring atmosphere their dedicated staff create for the children.
This role is to start after the May half-term on a full-time basis until the academic year, and could continue until July 2027 for the right person.
Responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant at this school:- Support students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups.
- Help adapt classwork so it suits each child’s individual needs.
- Support daily routines, sensory activities, and interventions.
- Encourage positive behaviour and social confidence.
- Work closely with teachers and the SEND team.
What we’re looking for:- Previous experience working in a similar setting, or having worked closely with children with SEND.
- Knowledge of Autism-friendly strategies, sensory needs, and behaviour management approaches.
- Relevant qualifications such as Level 2 or Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (desirable but not essential).
- A genuine interest in helping children grow in confidence and independence.
