Learning Support Assistant (LSA) – SEN Experience

The Role

We are seeking a compassionate, skilled and motivated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) with SEN experience and relevant SEN qualifications to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with the SENCo, class teachers and external professionals to support pupils with a range of additional needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support for pupils with identified SEN needs.
  • Implement and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support strategies.
  • Adapt learning materials to meet individual learning styles and abilities.
  • Support pupils with communication, social interaction and emotional regulation.
  • Assist with behaviour management in line with the school’s policies.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCo, parents and external agencies.
  • Promote inclusion and independence within the classroom and wider school environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of progress and contribute to review meetings.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
  • Holds relevant SEN qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Supporting Teaching & Learning, SEN-specific training, or equivalent).
  • Has proven experience supporting children with SEN (e.g. ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH, or learning difficulties).
  • Demonstrates patience, empathy and resilience.
  • Has strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Is proactive, adaptable and committed to inclusive education.
  • Understands safeguarding responsibilities and maintains professional boundaries.
