Class Teacher to join their secondary provision. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate educator who is dedicated to helping young people with additional needs develop the academic, social, and life skills they need to thrive beyond school.
The school supports learners aged 7–19 with a broad range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), profound and severe learning difficulties, communication and interaction needs, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. Known for its nurturing and inclusive approach, the school places a strong emphasis on developing independence, confidence, communication skills, and meaningful preparation for adulthood.
The RoleAs a KS3 and KS4 Class Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering a personalised and engaging curriculum that combines core academic learning with practical life skills and preparation for adulthood. Working alongside a skilled multidisciplinary team, you will help students develop the knowledge, confidence, and independence needed for their next stage of education, training, employment, or adult life.
Key responsibilities include:- Teaching a range of core subjects including English, Maths, Science, and Preparing for Adulthood
- Planning and delivering differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs and EHCP outcomes
- Supporting students to develop functional literacy, numeracy, communication, and independent living skills
- Embedding preparation for adulthood throughout the curriculum, including community engagement, employability, personal wellbeing, and life skills
- Monitoring and assessing pupil progress, celebrating achievements, and adapting provision where necessary
- Working closely with therapists, support staff, families, and external professionals to ensure holistic support for learners
- Creating a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment where students feel safe, valued, and motivated to succeed
The Ideal Candidate- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential
- Experience teaching pupils with SEND, Autism, learning disabilities, or SEMH needs is highly desirable
- Primary-trained teachers looking to transition into a specialist secondary setting are encouraged to apply
- Strong understanding of differentiated teaching and personalised learning approaches
- Passionate about supporting young people to achieve meaningful outcomes and greater independence
- Excellent classroom management, communication, and relationship-building skills
