Qualified SEN Teacher – ASD & PMLD

Full-Time | Long-Term Opportunity | Harrow, North West London

Are you an exceptional, committed and reflective qualified teacher ready to make a measurable difference in specialist education?

A highly regarded specialist provision in Harrow, North West London is seeking a skilled and passionate teacher to work with pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).

This is a full-time, long-term opportunity for a practitioner who is ambitious for their pupils and uncompromising in their commitment to high-quality outcomes.

This role requires flexibility, depth of understanding and a genuine belief that every learner — regardless of complexity of need — deserves an aspirational, carefully structured education.

The Role

You will lead a class of pupils with ASD and/or PMLD, delivering highly personalised learning programmes aligned to EHCP outcomes. Teaching in this setting demands creativity, adaptability and precision — balancing structured autism-specific approaches with sensory, therapeutic and communication-led strategies for learners with profound needs.
Progress may look different, but expectations remain high. You will plan for meaningful academic, social, communication and independence outcomes, supported by a strong multidisciplinary team.

We Are Seeking a Teacher Who:
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (essential)
  • Has proven experience working with pupils with ASD, PMLD or complex needs
  • Demonstrates strong understanding of autism-informed practice and sensory regulation
  • Has experience with alternative and augmentative communication (PECS, Makaton, AAC)
  • Is confident differentiating for learners with widely varying cognitive and physical needs
  • Can lead, motivate and deploy support staff effectively
  • Is flexible, solution-focused and resilient
  • Maintains exceptionally high expectations for all pupils
  • Is deeply committed to safeguarding and inclusive education
This role will particularly suit teachers who are reflective practitioners, data-informed and ambitious about specialist pedagogy.

About the Setting

Located in Harrow, this specialist provision benefits from:
  • Purpose-designed classrooms and sensory environments
  • Dedicated therapy and intervention spaces
  • Specialist equipment to support physical, communication and sensory needs
  • Strong collaboration between teachers, therapists and support staff
  • Leadership that prioritises professional development and staff wellbeing
The ethos centres on dignity, independence, communication and preparing pupils for meaningful futures. Staff are supported, challenged and valued in equal measure.
