Horizon Teachers are delighted to be supporting a highly regarded specialist school in West London in their search for an experienced and motivated HCPC-registered Speech and Language Therapist (Band 6 or above).

This is an exciting opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team within a well-established specialist setting that places communication at the heart of everything it does.

The school supports children and young people aged 7–19 with a diverse range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), severe learning disabilities, speech, language and communication needs, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

The successful therapist will play a vital role in helping learners develop their communication skills, independence, social interaction, and readiness for life beyond education. The school is known for its collaborative approach, where therapists, teachers, support staff, and families work closely together to achieve meaningful outcomes for every young person.


The Role
  • Assessing, planning, delivering, and reviewing Speech and Language Therapy interventions for pupils with a range of complex communication needs
  • Managing a varied caseload across Key Stages 2–5
  • Contributing to Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) assessments, reviews, and target setting
  • Providing specialist advice and recommendations to teaching staff, support staff, and families
  • Supporting the implementation of communication strategies across the school environment
  • Delivering training and coaching to school staff to promote communication-friendly practice
  • Working as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside educators, therapists, and pastoral professionals
  • Monitoring progress and ensuring interventions support both educational achievement and preparation for adulthood outcomes

The Ideal Candidate

  • HCPC registration as a Speech and Language Therapist is essential
  • Band 6 or above experience, or equivalent level of clinical expertise
  • Experience working with children and young people with Autism, learning disabilities, speech and language difficulties, or complex communication needs
  • Knowledge of AAC systems, communication aids, and evidence-based therapeutic approaches is highly desirable
  • Strong report-writing, assessment, and case management skills
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
  • A collaborative and solution-focused approach to multidisciplinary working
  • Passion for improving outcomes for young people with SEND
