About the School
Our school is a specialist primary provision supporting pupils aged 5–11 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN).
We work with children who may have experienced barriers to learning in mainstream settings, including those with additional needs such as autism and ADHD. The school offers small class sizes, high staff-to-pupil ratios, and a trauma-informed approach, ensuring that every child receives personalised support throughout the school day.

The Role

We are seeking a passionate and resilient SEMH & SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs in a primary setting. You will play a vital role in helping children engage with learning, regulate their emotions, and achieve positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH and SEN needs
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging, differentiated lessons
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour management
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to support engagement
  • Implement individual support plans and strategies
  • Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
  • Support pupils during transitions, unstructured times, and interventions
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
  • Encourage the development of social skills, independence, and resilience
About You
  • Experience working with children with SEMH, SEN, autism, or ADHD
  • A calm, patient, and consistent approach to behaviour support
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport quickly
  • Resilient, adaptable, and able to respond to challenging situations positively
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable pupils
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills (minimum Level 2 or equivalent)
  • A team player with a proactive and flexible attitude
