Horizon Teachers are working in partnership with a Primary School in Sutton seeking a committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to support a Year 5 pupil on a one-to-one basis, starting immediately.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and who can build positive, trusting relationships to help a child thrive both academically and emotionally.
The role will involve:
  • Providing 1:1 support for a Year 5 pupil with SEMH needs
  • Supporting emotional regulation, engagement and positive behaviour
  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENCo and wider support team
  • Helping the pupil access the curriculum and develop social skills
  • Creating a safe, nurturing and consistent learning environment
We are looking for someone who:
  • Has experience working with children with SEMH or additional needs (desirable)
  • Is calm, patient, resilient and empathetic
  • Can use positive behaviour strategies effectively
  • Is able to work well as part of a team and follow individual support plans
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
