Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of children with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health)?

We are working with an Alternative Provision in Hackney that is aiming to find specialist support staff to help with learners who have been excluded from mainstream school.

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a pivotal role in creating a positive and supportive learning atmosphere and environment where they feel valued and heard.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Providing one-on-one and small group support to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health.
  • Support behaviours that challenge from time to time, with a focus of de-escalation and early intervention.
  • Implementing behaviour intervention plans and strategies in collaboration with teachers and other specialists.
  • Using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage positive behaviours and social skills.
  • Monitoring and tracking student progress, adjusting interventions as needed.
  • Assisting teachers in classroom management and promoting a harmonious learning environment.
  • Building strong rapport with students, parents, and colleagues to facilitate effective communication.
What the ideal individual will have:
  • Experience working with children or young adults with special educational needs, particularly those with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health.
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and intervention strategies.
  • Empathy, patience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
