Learning Support Assistant

£550 - £600 per week
Inner London - South West
Long term
Start date: April 2026
Primary LSA – Wandsworth
Start: April 2026

We’re working with a genuinely lovely primary school in Wandsworth that is looking for a strong, experienced Learning Support Assistant to join their team.
The school is looking for someone who knows how to build trust with children, can support learning in a meaningful way, and is confident working alongside teachers to make a real difference day to day.
This is a well-run, welcoming primary with a calm atmosphere and a leadership team that actually supports its staff. Behaviour is good, expectations are clear, and there’s a real focus on doing things properly rather than ticking boxes.
Staff tend to stay here — which says a lot. There’s a strong sense of teamwork, and LSAs are treated as a valued part of the classroom, not an afterthought.
You’ll be working in KS1 or KS2 supporting pupils who need additional help — this could be 1:1 or in small groups. There may be a focus on SEN so experience in this area is important.

You’ll be expected to:
  • Support learning in class and help pupils stay engaged
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo
  • Adapt activities to suit individual needs
  • Build a positive, consistent relationship with pupils
  • Use initiative — knowing when to step in and when to step back
What they’re looking for:
  • Solid experience as an LSA in a primary setting
  • Confidence working with SEN
  • Someone reliable, calm, and switched on
  • Good communication skills — with staff and pupils
  • The kind of person who takes pride in doing the job well
Why this role?
  • Supportive, organised school where you won’t be left to figure things out alone
  • Clear routines and expectations — no chaos
  • Opportunity to go permanent if it’s the right fit
  • Good transport links across Wandsworth and surrounding areas
Why Join Through Horizon Teachers?
  • An outstanding 4.9 average rating on Google, reflecting our commitment to staff satisfaction
  • Competitive pay rates, among the best in the sector
  • Ongoing training and professional development to ensure you feel confident and supported
  • Regular reviews and dedicated consultant support throughout your placement
