Learning Support Assistant – Specialist Alternative Provision (NW London)
Are you a resilient, compassionate, and highly skilled Learning Support Assistant looking to make a genuine impact? We are seeking exceptional individuals to join a specialist alternative provision in North West London, supporting young people with complex needs who require a more tailored approach to education.
This setting works with students who have experienced barriers to mainstream education, including social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
The role demands a calm, consistent, and proactive approach, with a strong emphasis on behaviour management, de-escalation, and relationship building.
About the Role
You will work closely with teaching staff to support students both in and out of the classroom, helping them to re-engage with learning and develop positive behaviours. Every day is different, and your ability to remain patient, adaptable, and solution-focused will be key.
Key Responsibilities- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH and additional needs
- Use effective behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students to support engagement
- Assist in delivering tailored learning activities
- Support students in developing social and emotional skills
What We’re Looking For- Proven experience working in a PRU or alternative provision setting
- Strong behaviour management skills and confidence in de-escalation techniques
- A calm, resilient, and empathetic approach
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people
