Are you a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant with a passion for making a positive impact on the lives of students with Special Educational Needs? As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with a range of Special Educational Needs, particularly focusing on autism, behavioural difficulties, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. Your patience, empathy, and understanding will be instrumental in creating a nurturing classroom atmosphere where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-on-one or group support to students with SEN, tailoring your approach to their individual needs.
  • Assist classroom teachers in implementing specialized strategies to manage behaviour and promote positive interactions.
  • Collaborate with the SEN team to create and implement Individual Education Plans and Behaviour Intervention Plans.
  • Foster a safe and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and learning.
  • Effectively communicate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to share progress and address concerns.
  • Utilize your expertise to de-escalate challenging situations and promote emotional well-being.
 
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, with a strong background in autism, behavioural difficulties, and SEMH.
  • Relevant qualifications or certifications in Special Education or related fields are advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
  • Empathy, patience, and resilience in managing and supporting students with complex needs.
  • A commitment to promoting inclusivity and fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Organizational skills to manage documentation and support plans effectively.
