We are working in partnership with a warm and inclusive primary school in Havering that is looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join its team. Your responsibilities may include:

Supporting the class teacher with whole-class, group, and individual learning
Helping pupils access and engage with the curriculum across subjects
Providing encouragement and support with academic, social, and emotional development
Assisting with the preparation of resources and classroom organisation
Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils
Working collaboratively with teachers, other TAs, and families
Helping create a calm, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment
Supporting pupils during lessons, break times, and other aspects of the school day

We’re interested in hearing from candidates who have:

Previous experience working with children, ideally within a school or educational setting
A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to build strong relationships with children
A calm and consistent approach to behaviour
The confidence to work independently while also being a strong team player
A genuine passion for helping children achieve their potential
Experience supporting children with SEN is desirable but not essential

From the start, Paul (Primary Team) and David (Secondary Team) have both been incredibly supportive, approachable, and professional, making the whole process smooth and reassuring. I’ve been working with both a primary and a secondary consultant, and the communication between them has been excellent. They’ve always been available to answer questions and provide guidance whenever needed. The support I received before starting my placement was especially helpful. My consultant gave me great insight into the school, which really helped me feel prepared and confident going in. I also completed their Teaching Assistant training, along with Safeguarding Level 1 and Level 2, which were both very informative and valuable. A special thanks to David for checking in with me when things were a bit challenging — it really made a difference and showed genuine care and support. The ones that create empty promises to keep your interest and who want to benefit more from your hardwork than yourself. Melanie proved that Horizon was a cut above the rest. My agency contact, Alexa, has been great at providing information, fixing any miscommunications and has personally chased after my timesheet approvals. They didn't prep me anything about the school other than where it is, the age group and department that I'll be in but, I'm sure if I had asked for more details they would have provided them without issue.
