Horizon Teachers is working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Lambeth to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a full-time, long-term position starting in September.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with pupils who require additional support, helping them build confidence, develop independence, and reach their full potential in a nurturing learning environment. You’ll work alongside experienced teachers and the SENCO to provide tailored support that enables every child to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs.
  • Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs and encourage engagement in lessons.
  • Support pupils’ academic, social, emotional, and communication development.
  • Implement strategies outlined in EHCPs and behaviour support plans.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, parents, and external professionals.
  • Promote a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.

What we’re looking for:

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN in a school, nursery, or care setting.
  • Experience working with pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, or learning difficulties is desirable.
  • A patient, resilient, and compassionate approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
