SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary SEN Provision
Location: Newham, East London
Setting: SEN provision within a mainstream primary school

Are you a caring and motivated SEN Teaching Assistant who wants to work in a specialist provision inside a welcoming mainstream primary?
We are working in partnership with a supportive primary school in Newham that hosts a dedicated SEN provision for pupils with additional needs. They are looking for a committed SEN TA to join the provision team and help children overcome barriers, build confidence, and access learning in a small-group and 1:1 setting.

Your responsibilities may include:

Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils within the SEN provision
Supporting children with their academic, social, and emotional development
Helping pupils access and engage with a differentiated curriculum
Implementing individual learning and support strategies
Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
Supporting children with communication, interaction, and regulation needs
Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils
Working collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, therapists, and families
Helping create a calm, inclusive, and nurturing provision environment
Supporting pupils during lessons, break times, and other aspects of the school day

We’re interested in hearing from candidates who have:

Previous experience working with children, ideally within a school or educational setting
Experience supporting children with SEN (highly desirable)
A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to build strong relationships with children
A calm and consistent approach to behaviour
The confidence to work independently while also being a strong team player
A genuine passion for helping children achieve their potential

From the start, Paul (Primary Team) and David (Secondary Team) have both been incredibly supportive, approachable, and professional, making the whole process smooth and reassuring. I’ve been working with both a primary and a secondary consultant, and the communication between them has been excellent. They’ve always been available to answer questions and provide guidance whenever needed. The support I received before starting my placement was especially helpful. My consultant gave me great insight into the school, which really helped me feel prepared and confident going in. I also completed their Teaching Assistant training, along with Safeguarding Level 1 and Level 2, which were both very informative and valuable. A special thanks to David for checking in with me when things were a bit challenging — it really made a difference and showed genuine care and support.
