Working closely with the class teacher and SEN team, you will provide personalised support to pupils who require additional assistance to access learning and the wider school environment.
Your day-to-day responsibilities could include:

Providing 1:1 and small-group SEN support
Helping pupils access the curriculum through differentiated activities
Supporting children with communication, interaction and learning needs
Encouraging independence and confidence
Supporting social and emotional development
Implementing individual learning and support strategies
Helping pupils regulate their emotions and remain engaged in learning
Promoting positive behaviour and a calm classroom environment
Building trusting and positive relationships with pupils
Supporting children during lessons, transitions, lunch and playtimes
Working collaboratively with teachers, SEN professionals and other support staff
Celebrating pupils’ progress, however big or smal

We’re looking for someone who is compassionate, enthusiastic and genuinely passionate about SEN.
You may already be an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or SEN TA, or you may have relevant experience working with children and be looking to develop your career within education.
You’ll ideally have:

Previous experience working with children
Experience supporting pupils with SEN — desirable but not essential
A patient, nurturing and empathetic personality
Excellent communication skills
A calm and consistent approach
The ability to build strong relationships with children
A positive attitude and willingness to learn
The confidence to work both independently and as part of a team
A genuine desire to help every child achieve their potential

Experience supporting children with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties or complex learning needs would be advantageous.

From the start, Paul (Primary Team) and David (Secondary Team) have both been incredibly supportive, approachable, and professional, making the whole process smooth and reassuring. I’ve been working with both a primary and a secondary consultant, and the communication between them has been excellent. They’ve always been available to answer questions and provide guidance whenever needed. The support I received before starting my placement was especially helpful. My consultant gave me great insight into the school, which really helped me feel prepared and confident going in. I also completed their Teaching Assistant training, along with Safeguarding Level 1 and Level 2, which were both very informative and valuable. A special thanks to David for checking in with me when things were a bit challenging — it really made a difference and showed genuine care and support.
