As a long term supply teacher you have the same teaching responsibilities as a permanent member of staff, you’re expected to follow lesson plans and teach pupils in accordance with the national curriculum. Undertaking temporary teaching will mean being able to adapt teaching methods to suit the needs of different schools, students and age groups.
This area of teaching can be extremely rewarding, enabling you to work with lots of different children at different levels in their development. Daily tasks will vary depending on the placement you are in, you might need to help pupils prepare for certain tests, supervise events or even support projects outside of the classroom.
