Exam Invigilator

Position: Exam Invigilator Start Date: ASAP Location: South West London Pay: £9.20 - £11.00 per hour Are you an experienced Exam Invigilator that is looking for flexible work? Are in a flexible career or a student looking for experience schools? Horizon Teachers looking to recruit flexible and ad-hoc Exam Invigilators for Secondary schools in South West London. The role is ideal for those looking to pick up flexible additional work and for someone who is looking for experience within schools. We are working with over 7 schools in the area that can book up to 15 invigilators at anyone time so there is an abundance of flexible work available.  You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of secondary level education exams, distributing and collecting papers, escorting pupils if required and ensuring that pupils are adhering to the examination standard guidelines at all times. You may be required to provide one-to-one or small group based assistance. This will include providing written support from the pupil’s dictation only, or verbal dictation of examination questions, or pupils written answers only. The successful applicant will have: A good standard of education (degree level is desirable) Excellent verbal and written communication skills Good attention to detail Experience of working in a school or as an Invigilator (desirable) A positive ‘can do’ attitude An enhanced DBS check (or be willing to apply for one) Your daily duties will consist of: Maintaining a calm exam environment Ensuring the examination is conducted according to guidelines set out by JCQ Reporting any unexpected events during the course of an examination Invigilating external exams according to an agreed timetable Reporting to the examination office 30 minutes before the exam is due to start Marking against registers as required Checking exam desks for graffiti and removing where possible, any unused exam papers and answer booklets must be returned to the exams manager Liaising with the examinations manager Placing pupils’ work in examination number order, checking against the attendance register and handing to the exams manager.
