A Primary School in Hackney are looking for a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their team of friendly and hard working individuals on a full time basis. The position is to support a boy in Nursery with a statement of Autism (ASD).
This role will be to start as soon as the school find their ideal candidate and ongoing until 21st July 2020. The headteacher is hoping to meet with applicants next week for an interview and followed by a trial day working directly with the student.
He is very unsettled when working in a classroom with his fellow students. He does have a mild form of Autism and has difficulty communicating and making eye contact with people that he is not familiar with.
A strategy is in place to support him out of the classroom as he often becomes very distracted and reluctant to work around his peers. He does have a very strong interest in football and painting therefore a sports or art background would work really well when building a relationship with him.
The school are looking for somebody who is very easy going and able to build new relationships very quickly. It would be a strong advantage for the individual to have experience in supporting Autism or another form of Special Educational Needs.
Our ideal candidate will:
• Have a passion for working with children
• Be confident with supporting young people with SEN
• Have a really positive working attitude
• Be committed and punctual
The school is based in Hackney a very central part of London with fantastic transport links both to and from the school. The nearest underground station is within a 10 minute walk to the school with the option of an even shorter bus journey.
