Horizon Teachers are looking for Teaching assistants and Learning Support Assistants that are passionate and keen to support vulnerable children in schools throughout North London.

We work with a range of schools, who are dedicated in supporting children with moderate and severe complex needs. Children with complex needs can have a physical impairment, additional educational need or medical condition along with their learning disability and this can mean that they need additional support in multiple areas.

Children with these types of difficulties will absolutely thrive if they are given the right kind of learning stimulation and environment. To enable them to enjoy their time in school, following their individual education plans are vitally important as it gives detailed information on how to support the children.

Children with Complex needs can have a variety of difficulties including co-existing educational needs, physical needs, behaviours that may be seen as disruptive, communication difficulties, sensory impairments which could be over stimulating or under stimulating, for them. These children also struggle to learn new tasks and have tasks adapted to meet their level.

These children are engaging and inspirational, and even those who have never worked in SEND will get so much form working with these children as they will give you so much. All the children need in return is enthusiasm, positivity, engagement and the will to be there, give them a positive education experience and spend time with them. Experience is not necessary for this role.


We are looking to hear from you if you are an experienced practitioner, have worked in mainstream and wish to transition to working within a SEND environment, have worked 1-1 before, seeking a change of career, would like to gain SEND experience or thinking of a career in teaching. Nonetheless, this is a great way of building on your skills and experience in a variety of settings in addition to mainstream schools.

SEN Teaching Assistant

£60 - £85 per day
A Complex Needs School based in Tower Hamlets are currently looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join the team from February 2019. This is a Long term position which will continue until the end of the academic year and with a potential to become permanent, the position is part time and will be 3/4 days a week. The School This is an all through school which provides places to Primary and Secondary age children between the ages of 3 and 18 years old. The classes are organised by age groups as well as by the severity of the children's needs. Pupils have a range of Special Educational Needs from Moderate to Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties. Pupils with PMLD are non-verbal and mostly wheelchair users and the school has resources on site to hoist pupils with such needs. They work to a sensory based curriculum whereas pupils who are more able will work to P scales or an adapted Primary national curriculum. SEN Teaching Assistant responsibilities: Supporting a class of girls in Key Stage 3 who have Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties Engaging with the children to ensure they access the curriculum Carrying out behaviour management in line with the school's policies and procedures Supporting pupils with personal care as required (this will involve assisting another member of staff) Accompanying the class on school trips as required Being proactive in the class to ensure your learning support is tailored to each child's individual needs The school are looking for individuals with a passion for supporting vulnerable children and who have some personal or professional experience supporting Special Educational Needs.
