SEN Intervention Teacher

  • Full time hours - 8.15am to 4pm - Monday to Friday
  • Term time only

This is the ideal role for Teachers looking for a change from mainstream teaching to work with smaller groups of pupils and to put into practice experience supporting pupils with SEN.

The School
A mainstream Primary School which caters for children between 3 and 11 years old. The school contains a Provision for pupils who are Deaf or Hearing Impaired with specialist, trained staff to support their needs. They are a very inclusive school in a multi-cultural community with pupils and staff coming from a range of cultures and backgrounds. Within the mainstream school, pupils have a range of needs from sensory requirements to Speech and Language needs, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Moderate Learning Difficulties and more. They achieved a rating of "Good" in their previous OFSTED inspection (2015). Staff satisfaction in the school is very high with the majority of teachers having stayed there for several years.

The position
The successful applicant will be teaching small groups of pupils across all age groups in the school who have a range of SEN including:
  • Sensory needs
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs
  • Autistic Spectrum Disorder
  • Moderate Learning Difficulties
  • Hearing Impairment

The teacher will work on a 1:1 basis with pupils to provide learning support, differentiate lesson plans for pupils to tailor to their individual needs. The school is in a deprived area so pupils come from challenging backgrounds and will need pastoral support in addition to learning support. The school has high expectations on pupils to attain excellent results so they are looking for a Teacher who can really engage well and get the most out of their pupils.

This position is initially to work on a long term basis until the Christmas holidays but the school will be looking for someone permanent from January and will consider taking a teacher on a temp to perm basis if they do well in this role.

SEN Teaching Assistant

£60 - £85 per day
A Complex Needs School based in Tower Hamlets are currently looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join the team from February 2019. This is a Long term position which will continue until the end of the academic year and with a potential to become permanent, the position is part time and will be 3/4 days a week. The School This is an all through school which provides places to Primary and Secondary age children between the ages of 3 and 18 years old. The classes are organised by age groups as well as by the severity of the children's needs. Pupils have a range of Special Educational Needs from Moderate to Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties. Pupils with PMLD are non-verbal and mostly wheelchair users and the school has resources on site to hoist pupils with such needs. They work to a sensory based curriculum whereas pupils who are more able will work to P scales or an adapted Primary national curriculum. SEN Teaching Assistant responsibilities: Supporting a class of girls in Key Stage 3 who have Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties Engaging with the children to ensure they access the curriculum Carrying out behaviour management in line with the school's policies and procedures Supporting pupils with personal care as required (this will involve assisting another member of staff) Accompanying the class on school trips as required Being proactive in the class to ensure your learning support is tailored to each child's individual needs The school are looking for individuals with a passion for supporting vulnerable children and who have some personal or professional experience supporting Special Educational Needs.
