Are you looking for a change from mainstream teaching? Do you want a role where you can make a real difference in the lives of young people? Do you want to be part of a team of motivated, fun and passionate staff? This could be your ideal role!
A Secondary school for children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties (SEMH) and Behavioural Difficulties are seeking a Secondary trained Science Teacher for a position starting in January. This is a Full Time position to work between the hours of 8.30am to 4pm Monday to Friday during Term Time only. The role will start on 7th January on a temporary basis and the successful applicant will be taken onto a Permanent contract in the school if they settle into the position well.
The school is part of a consortium of Pupil Referral Units in Islington divided into different sites. The Science Teacher will be based across 2 sites, working in the Key Stage 3 PRU for 3 days per week for children with SEMH and Behavioural needs and working the other 2 days per week teaching a Key Stage 4 class in the Medical PRU for students with chronic fatigue and anxiety. The schools are designed to provide a short term educational intervention to pupils who are very vulnerable and whose education has been disrupted due to their needs. Every day in these settings is different and, as such, staff need to be adaptable to the needs of individual students and their ever-changing emotional states. The target for all Teachers is to facilitate a return to mainstream education as quickly as possible.
