School Food Technician – Immediate start

A great opportunity for a passionate, enthusiastic and proactive Food Technician to join a thriving Secondary school in Greenwich. This is brand new school that Horizon Teachers have worked closely with since its opening and it has superb modern state of the art facilities. The post is to start ASAP and you would be working closely with the Food Technology Teacher in KS3 lessons. The students are enthusiastic and keen to learn. The department you would be joining is close knit and supportive. Training and support will be offered on the role. The role is ideal for both a recent graduate in a food related subject, as well an experienced Food Technician.

As a School Food Technician you will be:

  • Assisting teaching staff with demonstration lessons and practicals
  • Making arrangements for maintenance and repair services to equipment
  • Promoting healthy eating
  • Maintaining stock and breakage records, catalogues and user manuals
  • Ordering, receiving and accounting for new stock and equipment

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a degree (ideally in nutrition/food science)
  • Have passion for food and experience of preparing it
  • Enjoying working with young people

Exam Invigilator - ASAP Start

Exam Invigilator South East London £9-10 per hour Are you an exam invigilator who is looking for flexible part time work? Experienced and passionate about the job? Horizon Teachers are currently working with Secondary schools in London and the surrounding Home Counties that require ad-hoc Exam Invigilators. The role will be ideal for someone who is looking for extra days work or for someone who is looking for experience within schools. You may be required to provide one-to-one or small group based assistance. This will include providing written support from the pupil’s dictation only, or verbal dictation of examination questions, or pupils written answers only. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of secondary level education exams, distributing and collecting papers, escorting pupils if required and ensuring that pupils are adhering to the examination standard guidelines at all times. The successful applicant will have: Excellent communication skills both verbal and written Good attention to detail Experience of working in a school (desired) Positive can do attitude Your daily duties will consist of: Maintaining a calm exam environment Ensuring the examination is conducted according to guidelines set out by JCQ Reporting on any unexpected events during the course of an examination Invigilating external examination according to an agreed timetable Reporting to the examination office 30 minutes before the exam is due to start Marking against registers as required Checking exam desks for graffiti and removing where possible, any unused exam papers and answer booklets must be returned to the exams manager Liaising with the examinations manager Placing pupils’ work in examination number order, checking against the attendance register and handing to the exams manager.
