Horizon Teachers is very happy to be working with an Outstanding Secondary school in Newham who are looking to appoint a Permanent RE teacher. The role is to teach the Catholic curriculum and successful applicants must be able to deliver this with the schools strong Catholic Ethos.

The school is looking for a Teacher of RE to join them and continue the schools outstanding progress. This is a permanent teaching position to teach RE at KS3, KS4 and KS5. The successful teacher will be teaching RE at both GCSE and A Level.

The School:
The school is a Single Sex School located in the centre of Newham, with excellent community links and easily accessible by Public transport and road. Attainment at the school is excellent with students Progress 8 score above the borough average and currently at 0.35. Student's attendance is excellent and the behaviour at the school is constantly good. All pupils and teachers work well together and drive standards as set by the head teacher. For all staff there is excellent training and for NQTs an outstanding induction programme is in place to ensure successful completion of the NQT year.

The Role:
The successful teacher will be teaching RE at KS3, KS4 and 5. Within RE the school follow a Catholic curriculum and deliver lessons that enhance the pupils understanding of the Catholic faith. At KS3 Pupils are taught a wide range of topics and also study other faiths. RE is a popular GCSE and A Level course and as such are oversubscribed each year. The department are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic RE teacher who is able to uphold the high standards and achieve excellent results with all classes. This position would suit an experienced teacher of recently qualified teacher. All teachers are supported and for NQTs there is an excellent induction programme in place.

If you are interested in this role you must have the following:

  • Qualified teacher status (QTS) or overseas trained.
  • PGCE in RE or degree level equivalent
  • Experience teaching RE at GCSE and or A Level
  • Experience in a secondary school within the last two years
  • Excellent subject knowledge and passion for RE.
  • Enhanced DBS Disclosure or Overseas Police Clearances
  • Proven experience in collaborating with colleagues
  • Experience in departmental best practice and planning
