JOB DESCRIPTION

Learning Support Mentor required for a Special Education Needs School in South West London. The specialist school caters for pupils with a statements of Special Education Needs (SEN) including Moderate Learning Needs, Speech and Language Difficulties, associated learning behaviours and those with an additional diagnosis of Autism.

 

This is a Full time, Long term position starting on 10th September (or ASAP) and continuing until the end of the academic year, term time only. The successful applicant will work 8.30am to 4pm Monday to Friday. You will be based in a Key Stage 2 class supporting pupils with a range of SEN.  

 

The main aim of the school is to equip pupils with life skills in order for them to achieve their potential and develop the greatest degree of independence in communication, social competence, thinking and learning and sensory regulation as far as possible for each person.

The school’s facilities are funded well and have a range of sensory resources and well-equipped large classrooms. Lessons are planned and communicated well between class teachers and teaching assistants and well-resourced. There are therapists and sports coaches who work with the pupils on a regular basis encouraging a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

 

You will provide general support to the teacher including support and management of pupils in lessons, at swimming, playtime, leisure and lunchtimes and the preparation of teaching resources and displays.
