A forward thinking Special School based in Harrow for young people aged between 4 to 19 years old who have severe to moderate learning difficulties are seeking someone who has a real passion for learning to join them as a full time PPA Teacher from January.

Teachers at this well-rounded Special School focus on creativity, learning life skills, high expectations and educating and supporting their pupils to become independent learners. They are lucky enough to have an impressive building that promotes well-being which is conducive to learning.

The school is made up of 16 classes each with a maximum of 8 pupils and 3 Teaching Support Assistants. All pupils learn on the Primary curriculum from P Scales – Level 1 NC and above. You will be joining two other PPA teachers. The Head of School is looking for a kind and caring practitioner with evidence of good to outstanding practice. 

The Essentials:

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Primary and/or secondary trained
  • Experience of teaching Special Education Needs

The Desirables:

  • Knowledge of PECS and MAKATON
  • Enjoy the challenge of working with young people within a SEN environment
  • Positive and dynamic
  • Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all pupils
  • Someone who is genuine

Another key feature of the school is the deployment of specific support staff. Their on-site Speech and Language Therapy Teaching Assistants ensure that pupil progress is optimised in their communication skills and always share best practice.
