This college based in Barnet caters for pupils 16-25 years old who have a variety of Special Needs including Autism, Down- syndrome and Epilepsy. The College is looking for a Learning Support Worker to start in September to work within the College and do outreach work in the community.

Learning Support Assistant

£60 - £90 per day
A rewarding opportunity has become available for a Learning Support Assistant to support a child in year 2 with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties. This is a full time, long term position starting immediately and continuing until the end of the academic year. The Learning Support Assistant will be required to support the boy with his academic development, focussing on his literacy and numeracy skills in particular. The LSA will need to manage the child's behaviour effectively as he has a tendency to run away and use physical aggression towards staff and other pupils when he becomes anxious, stressed or upset. He is well-behaved for the most part but on these occasions the boy will need to be restrained by the LSA. Our ideal candidate will have the following: - Experience working with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties- A good understanding of Special Educational Needs - Supporting vulnerable pupils on a 1:1 basis - Have a calm and patient approachThe successful applicant will have a minimum grade C in GCSE Maths and English and ideally a restraint training qualification (although this is not essential). The school need an LSA who can commit to this position at the continuity is a key factor. You will be required to work up until the end of the academic year as he finds it difficult to adjust to new faces. Teaching Assistant - Autism Support

A Primary School in Hackney are looking for a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their team of friendly and hard working individuals on a full time basis. The position is to support a boy in Nursery with a statement of Autism (ASD). This role will be to start as soon as the school find their ideal candidate and ongoing until 21st July 2020. The headteacher is hoping to meet with applicants next week for an interview and followed by a trial day working directly with the student. He is very unsettled when working in a classroom with his fellow students. He does have a mild form of Autism and has difficulty communicating and making eye contact with people that he is not familiar with.A strategy is in place to support him out of the classroom as he often becomes very distracted and reluctant to work around his peers. He does have a very strong interest in football and painting therefore a sports or art background would work really well when building a relationship with him.
