Learning Support Mentor positions

Horizon Teachers are working with a Primary SEN School in Wandsworth for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder who are seeking additional support staff due to a recent intake of children with statements for Special Educational Needs. The school are seeking Learning Support Mentors to work on a flexible basis as well as those who are looking for consistent Full time, Long term work. The specialist school caters for pupils with a statements of Special Education Needs (SEN) including Moderate Learning Needs, Speech and Language Difficulties, associated learning behaviours and those with an additional diagnosis of Autism.

The positions will start after half term on 29th October and the full time hours are from 8.30am to 4pm Monday to Friday. Applicants starting on a supply basis will have the opportunity to go into a long term position in the school if they work well there. The Learning Support Mentor will work with children across a range of ages in Primary from Nursery to Year 6.

The main aim of the school is to equip pupils with life skills in order for them to achieve their potential and develop the greatest degree of independence in communication, social competence, thinking and learning and sensory regulation as far as possible for each person.
The school's facilities are funded well and have a range of sensory resources and well-equipped large classrooms. Lessons are planned and communicated well between class teachers and teaching assistants and well-resourced. There are therapists and sports coaches who work with the pupils on a regular basis encouraging a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

You will provide general support to the teacher including support and management of pupils in lessons, at swimming, playtime, leisure and lunchtimes and the preparation of teaching resources and displays.

The head of school is looking for a Learning Support Mentor who will:
• Have experience/interest of working with children/young people in some capacity
• SEN experience including Autism - Desirable
• Minimum GCSE Grade C in Maths and English
• Have excellent communication skills
• Be positive and enjoy a challenge
• Have a DBS (we can support with your application)

SEN Teaching Assistant

A Complex Needs School based in Tower Hamlets are currently looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join the team from February 2019. This is a Long term position which will continue until the end of the academic year and with a potential to become permanent, the position is part time and will be 3/4 days a week. The School This is an all through school which provides places to Primary and Secondary age children between the ages of 3 and 18 years old. The classes are organised by age groups as well as by the severity of the children's needs. Pupils have a range of Special Educational Needs from Moderate to Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties. Pupils with PMLD are non-verbal and mostly wheelchair users and the school has resources on site to hoist pupils with such needs. They work to a sensory based curriculum whereas pupils who are more able will work to P scales or an adapted Primary national curriculum. SEN Teaching Assistant responsibilities: Supporting a class of girls in Key Stage 3 who have Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties Engaging with the children to ensure they access the curriculum Carrying out behaviour management in line with the school's policies and procedures Supporting pupils with personal care as required (this will involve assisting another member of staff) Accompanying the class on school trips as required Being proactive in the class to ensure your learning support is tailored to each child's individual needs The school are looking for individuals with a passion for supporting vulnerable children and who have some personal or professional experience supporting Special Educational Needs. LSA- Supporting Autism

Teaching Assistant - 1:1 support

We are looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant to work with a GOOD Primary School in Brent. This position will involve working on a 1:1 basis with a little boy in Year 4, who needs someone to build a strong relationship with him and offer support and guidance in his learning. At times, he can become distracted and disinterested in his work, and needs someone who can help focus him, or change the activity so that his learning is not interrupted. The position is available due to the current Learning Support Assistant retiring. Initially, the position will be on a temporary basis, and will continue until the end of the academic year. However, the Headteacher is keen to find someone who would like to stay for the long term and would be able to offer a permanent contract from September 2019.
