A rewarding opportunity has become available for a Learning Support Assistant to support a child in year 2 with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties. This is a full time, long term position starting immediately and continuing until the end of the academic year.
The Learning Support Assistant will be required to support the boy with his academic development, focussing on his literacy and numeracy skills in particular. The LSA will need to manage the child's behaviour effectively as he has a tendency to run away and use physical aggression towards staff and other pupils when he becomes anxious, stressed or upset. He is well-behaved for the most part but on these occasions the boy will need to be restrained by the LSA.
Our ideal candidate will have the following:
- Experience working with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties
- A good understanding of Special Educational Needs
- Supporting vulnerable pupils on a 1:1 basis
- Have a calm and patient approach
The successful applicant will have a minimum grade C in GCSE Maths and English and ideally a restraint training qualification (although this is not essential). The school need an LSA who can commit to this position at the continuity is a key factor. You will be required to work up until the end of the academic year as he finds it difficult to adjust to new faces. The LSA must also be calm and patient with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be confident supporting a child with challenging behaviour.
