This is a primary school for children with severe or profound and multiple learning difficulties, including those with an additional diagnosis of autism. Their needs range across the spectrum with some children who are non-verbal and need a lot sensory support. It is an expanding school providing an exciting, innovative and bespoke curriculum for all pupils. The school cater for children from 3-11 years old and is based across 2 sites, both providing excellent facilities, appropriate to the age of pupils.
This particular position will be based in the Nursery setting, easily accessible by public transport with a direct link from Clapham Junction. The school are looking for someone who can commit to the rest of the academic year, as the position will go on until July 2019 as a minimum. This SEN Teaching Assistant position is a highly rewarding role, perfect for an enthusiastic and positive person who has a passion for working in Special Educational Needs. The existing faculty is friendly, enthusiastic and extremely supportive therefore they are looking for someone similar to join the team. With this role you will have constant on the job support and the class sizes are particularly small to meet the individual needs of the pupils.
Your role will be to provide general support to the teacher including support and management of pupils in lessons, at swimming, playtime, lunchtimes and the preparation of teaching resources and displays. You will need to have past experience working in an early years setting, most importantly the school are looking for someone who has a real love of working with children who have special educational needs. The school are particularly interested in applicants who have experience using PECS and Makaton.
The daily rate for this position will be between £60 and £75 a day.

Able to commit to the entire academic year
Keen to get involved in all aspects of the school
A good working knowledge of Autistic Spectrum Disorder and experience supporting these needs
Have excellent communication skills
