Part time SEN Learning Support Mentor 

A Primary School for children with ASD & Multiple Learning Difficulties, some of whom also have an additional diagnosis of autism based in South West London are seeking an experienced Special Education Needs Learning Support Mentor part time and long term from the May half term.

About the school:

There are two sites at this Special School, a Nursery and KS2 site.

At Key Stage 2 pupils follow a curriculum that incorporates individual learning needs and offers a learning environment that is engaging and fun. The curriculum is topic focused and pupils engage in learning through exciting new themes, lessons are linked to the theme and support learning across all subject areas.

Pupils in our assessment nursery, reception classes and through KS1 follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum

The curriculum is implemented through both teacher led and child-initiated learning as appropriate for the needs of individual pupils.

The EYFS curriculum offers a focus on the prime areas of learning, alongside continuous provision which promotes skills in the Prime and Specific areas through a play based approach.

Enrichment days are planned half termly to enhance learning, through first hand experiences. Days are planned with a focused curriculum area in mind.

Pupils have the opportunity to access a range of facilities to enhance learning opportunities both in school and within the local community including- hydro pool, soft play, horse riding and sailing.

The head of school is looking for a Learning Support Mentor who will:

  • Have experience/interest of working with children/young people in some capacity
  • SEN experience including Autism – Desirable
  • Minimum GCSE Grade C in Maths and English
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Be positive and enjoy a challenge
