Are you an experienced and motivated behaviour mentor who is looking for an exciting new opportunity within a good secondary school?.

Horizon Teachers is currently working with a good secondary school based in the borough of Southwark who are looking to appoint a passionate behaviour mentor to cover long term sickness.
The staff within the school holds the unshakable belief that every child can achieve their full potential given the right support and challenge.
The school itself is fairly new having opened in September 2013 with the ambition to become an outstanding local school which they are on track to become having already become the school of choice for many families in their local community.

The role itself will be ideal for someone with previous experience as a behaviour mentor but isn’t essential, you will be responsible for mentoring challenging students to try and get through to the root of their behavioural issues, managing the internal exclusion room which is where students who have been sent out of class for bad behaviour will attend, liaising with department leaders as well as being in contact with the parents of students who end up in the exclusion room, you will also be acting as a positive role model for students around the school at all times.

Noted in their in their latest Ofsted report ‘Pupils attendance and behaviour have improved over time so that they are now good, leaders and staff have developed effective procedures that improve pupils attitudes to school life and learning, The schools work to support vulnerable pupils is strong, members of the schools pastoral team including heads of house work well together to improve pupils performance, this is particularly the case for the higher than average proportion of pupils who join the school midyear’.

SEN Learning Mentor

£65 - £95 per day
A growing number of children and young people in the UK are being identified as having Special Educational Needs (SEN) whether academic, physical, mental health/medical or behavioural. Behaviour Mentors required

£65 - £80 per day
Horizon Teachers are seeking Behaviour Mentors at both Primary and Secondary level for Pupil Referral Units (PRUs) and Behavioural schools across London and the Home Counties. With the new academic year starting in September many schools are recruiting suitable people to support their students who often have Social, Emotional and Behavioural Diffculties, this is often referred to as SEBD. These children/young people may have been excluded from school or be at high risk of permanent exclusion. The schools: Primary or Secondary Small groups of 5-8 students on average Specialist Teachers Adjusted timetables and subjects Additional support from outside agencies To be considered you will need: At least 6 months experience of working with children/young people An ability to help disengaged or reluctant learners Good behaviour management skills To be adaptable and react to situations quickly Resilience and positivity Schools offer full training and support as well as many providing opportunities to progress to more senior levels with additional responsibilities.
