Specialist SEND Learning Support Assistant
£60 - £95 per day.

Horizon Teachers have been supporting Teachers and Teaching assistants to get work in some long standing, passionate and reputable Primary, Secondary and 0-19 SEND schools and provisions for the last 10 years. You do not necessarily need to have experience within a similar role. Just a will to make a difference to these children and young people's education experience and lives. Adaptability, creativity, resilience, a calm nature, and an abundance of positivity will prove a real asset to these children.

Some of these children have really struggled in their lives, and have experienced hugely difficult situations. It is important to bear this in mind when you are supporting them. Some of the behaviours may be challenging, and there may be difficult days for them and for you, but there's always a reason for this!

Working with children with SEND is hugely rewarding, exciting, challenging and a role where you will always learn new skills. The teams are hugely passionate about working with the children in their settings and so you will need to think with a child centred approach and put the children first, just as they do, but you will have a hugely supportive team behind you.

Required for: September 2019 Contract type: Full Time, Permanent A Mixed 11-19 school for pupils for complex mixed needs enrol 144 pupils who have a variety of needs including Down's syndrome, Autism, ADHD and complex medical needs. Many have significant learning difficulties. The majority of the pupils have speech and language difficulties. A growing number of pupils need support with activities of daily living. Makaton signing in many of the classes is used to facilitative communication.
