Are you a passionate DT Teacher, who is skilled in Textiles and Food Technology?

Horizon Teachers are currently working with a welcoming and aspirational Secondary school in Highgate, seeking to appoint a Design Technology (Food & Textiles) Teacher.

The school opened as an Academy in 2017 and caters for pupils from 11-16 years, with an intention to expand to include Post-16 provision in a Sixth Form in 4 years time. This role is a permanent one, starting in the new academic year, September 2018.

The Secondary school aims to promote achievement on all levels, including academic, personal, sporting and linguistic. Moreover, there is an emphasis on developing pupils who are creative, curious and compassionate, and who are well prepared for the next stage of their lives.


What does this role offer you?
• Classroom teaching of both Textiles and Food Technology across KS3 and KS4 (GCSE Hospitality & Catering, and GCSE Textiles)
• Responsibility for the pastoral wellbeing of a Form Group, as their Form Tutor
• Opportunity to become involved in the extra-curricular life of the school, such as Cookery Club and Textiles Club
• Ongoing support from Senior Management and CPD opportunities throughout the year

What characteristics do you need to be successful in this role?
• QTS
• Relevant DBS (on the Update Service ideally, but not essential)
• Educated to Degree level or equivalent
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
• Passionate about education and improving the lives of young people
• Experience of / understanding of supporting the learning of pupils with SEN
