A Complex Needs School based in Tower Hamlets are currently looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join the team from February 2019. This is a Long term position which will continue until the end of the academic year and with a potential to become permanent, the position is part time and will be 3/4 days a week.
This is an all through school which provides places to Primary and Secondary age children between the ages of 3 and 18 years old. The classes are organised by age groups as well as by the severity of the children's needs. Pupils have a range of Special Educational Needs from Moderate to Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties. Pupils with PMLD are non-verbal and mostly wheelchair users and the school has resources on site to hoist pupils with such needs. They work to a sensory based curriculum whereas pupils who are more able will work to P scales or an adapted Primary national curriculum.
SEN Teaching Assistant responsibilities:
The school are looking for individuals with a passion for supporting vulnerable children and who have some personal or professional experience supporting Special Educational Needs. If you have a family member with SEN or have worked on a voluntary capacity with such needs this is valuable experience which will prepare you well for the role. Most importantly you must be friendly, enthusiastic and positive to engage with the children.
