Horizon teachers is working with a good secondary school in Newham, East London who are looking to employ a Teaching Assistant to work within their support department with a specialism in Maths. The role will be to support students with all levels of needs including some pupils with complex needs. You will be specifically timetabled with supporting on Maths.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant with a focus on Maths you will be supporting and progressing students of all abilities across the schools Maths department. As directed by the SENCO the ideal individual for this role will be able to adapt and support in Maths. A background in support is essential, even if this is from tutoring or supporting relatives. You will work alongside experienced teachers and other Teaching Assistants to provide in class support as well as working with students in small groups and on a one to one basis in Maths. You will gain a valuable insight into the role of a teacher, prior experience within SEN support would be an advantage and will be looked upon favourably by the school.

The schools provides all Teaching Assistants with excellent training. You will be introduced to the latest teaching innovations as well as being fully trained on working with SEN students. As a Teaching Assistant you will be a vital link between teachers and students and in past years teaching assistants have been seen to improve grades as well as develop students’ behaviour.
The ideal Teaching Assistant for this role will;
• Be able to support SEN students in Maths
• Will have experience working in a school setting.
• Will be dynamic, a team player and motivated to drive student progress.
• Educated to Degree level with recent TA experience.
• Hold a recent DBS certificate or be willing to apply for one with Horizon Teachers.
• Be eligible to work in the UK.
