JOB DESCRIPTION

A special School based in East London for pupils aged 11 to 19 who have severe learning difficulties are looking for a Learning Support Mentor to work on a Full time, Long term basis from 17th September.

  • SEN experience is preferred - students with Severe or Profound Learning Difficulties 
  • Confident providing personal care - ideally with experience of this
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for supporting children with a range of SEN

The successful applicant will be supporting students across all secondary ages who have severe and profound learning difficulties. The nature of the students' SEN means they are unable to access a mainstream curriculum and require specialist support to develop basic communication skills and fine motor skills. The Learning Support Mentor will at times provide personal care to students, assisting them with feeding, changing and going to the toilet. Many students are wheelchair users with restricted mobility however the school is designed to cater to such needs.
