This independent special school based in Surrey is for children who have developed delays due to medical conditions, cerebral palsy or emotional difficulties due to direct or indirect trauma, it is also for students whose mild autism creates learning needs. They work to ensure that their students embrace an optimistic outlook, self-confidence and independence. There are two sites, between them they provide education from Key Stage 2 to Post 16 with adapted curriculums and corresponding exams. The school has modern and highly functioning facilities, with several sensory and therapy rooms that provide a comfortable environment for all students.
About the role
In this role you will be required to teach Physical Education to Key Stage 3 and 4 students, you will be based in the upper school setting. It will be your responsibility to adapt the current national curriculum to the students abilities and needs, therefore you will need to be very familiar with the current curriculum and national testing. It will be your obligation to assess progress and work closely with the teaching team to make sure that each student is reaching their full potential. It is vital to the school that you have knowledge and understanding of how to adapt, and also use a range of teaching and behaviour management strategies to support students with SEN.
This PE Teaching position will be full time with the hours 8:30am to 4pm in term time, it is an ongoing job with a very high chance of becoming permanent in September 2019. • Primary and/or Secondary trained
