A large Pupil Referral Unit in South East London are seeking a confident Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join their team from January 2020.
The unit caters for students between the ages of 11-16, who have found it difficult to learn in larger mainstream schools. Students are therefore taught in smaller groups (of up to 8) following the national curriculum with additional support for academic and social development. Key stage 4 students will study up to GCSE level and guided into further education or work.
Your role as a HLTA will be to take a senior support position whereby you will not only assist teachers and students but teach intervention groups and individual students who are out of the classroom. You may also be required to cover lessons when teachers are unavailable. This is a challenging role that would suit an experienced TA/LSA or a mentor who is ready to take the next step in their career.
• Have over 1 years' experience of supporting in an educational setting
• Possess excellent behaviour management skills
• Be confident to lead others and set a positive example
• Have experience covering lessons, teaching small groups or tutoring
• Be able to build and maintain effective relationships with others
• React quickly and adapt to situations
