Design Technology Teacher – Part Time

This Academy, which is rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, is seeking a part time Resistant Materials & Graphics teacher for a September 2017 start. The school is a large mixed all-through school in Lewisham with pupils aged 4-16. It is a mixed ability, much improved school. The Headteacher joined in 2014, and quickly established a strong sense of discipline and improved behaviour amongst pupils at the school. The teachers are able to make a real difference in the school and many of the students now exceed their expected grades by a long way due to the dedicated staff at the school.

The head of department is a well-respected member of staff who leads their department to strive for good results from all pupils. They have kept the schemes of work up to date and there are additional resources available. CPD is a highly important area to develop each individual teacher; you would be invited to attend a session per week focusing on different elements of your teaching.

The school has moved into a conveniently located building with recent extra funding; they have invested heavily in all areas of the schools’ technology departments. Changes have included new machinery, refurbished workshops, investment in support staff and an increase to the number of teachers in the department. This has led to an increase in the number of students selecting technology subjects at GCSE.

The school is looking to recruit a part time DT teacher who will join a driven department. You will be teaching Resistant Materials KS3/4, Graphics at KS3. They are looking for a Design Technology teacher who has all the right attributes to make a valid contribution ensuring the students are making the right progress.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or overseas trained.
  • Proven ability to raising attainment in Resistant Materials and Graphics
  • Secondary PGCE in Design Technology
  • Experience of teaching KS3-KS4 DT in a secondary school
  • The ability to communicate and work well as a part of team and show a commitment to being part of the wider life of the school
  • Reference details covering the last three year
  • Good behaviour management and subject knowledge
  • Proven track record of raising attainment and keeping standards high
