An East London Primary School are seeking a BSL Teaching Assistant for their Hearing Impaired Unit to start immediately. This role is full time and long term.

The School are looking to appoint an experienced Communication Support Worker with or working towards BSL (British Sign Language) level 3 and able to work primarily with students using BSL in order to access a Primary Curriculum.

The Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team are expanding to meet the communication needs of deaf pupils not only in the borough, but in the Resource Provision at the school too. You will be working as a member of the well-established Deaf Resource Base which cater for twelve deaf children, some of whom have additional needs. The provision is committed to an inclusive approach to education based on individual needs and is an integral part of the social community. The current team includes two teachers of the deaf (one unqualified), an educational interpreter (BSL Level 6) and a part-time deaf instructor.

In order to be successful, you will need:
• BSL Qualification Level 3 minimum
• A minimum qualification of grade C in English and Maths at GCSE level
• A valid DBS certificate (we can support with your application)
• Previous experience of supporting pupils with Special Education Needs
