Specialist Support Assistant - PRU

£60 - £95 per day
Specialist Support Assistant - PRU Up to £95 per day. Long term role. Are you calm, motivated and engaging? Are you passionate about working with children? Do you want to get the best out of the children you work with no matter their need, their learning level or their previous education experience? I am working with a KS4 provision in South London, that are looking for a positive, engaging an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their team. This school supports students who have had difficulties staying in a mainstream environment. School places can break down for a variety of reasons: Some young people may have been excluded from school due to behaviours or home or environmental factors, but others may be sick or need a different environment to engage successfully in learning. These placements can be on a short term or long term basis. The children who attend this provision are active and are involved in many activities along with their school day. This helps regulate their behaviour and act as a positive distraction technique in their lives, and all the staff team who work with the children enjoy being active as well. The teaching assistant who joins the team will need to be proactive, calm and methodical in their interactions with the students. Experience is not necessary, it's more about the mind set and attitude. Due to the students having poor self-esteem, confidence, self-behaviour and emotional management skills and lacking stability, the staff must be upbeat and positive and take time to get to know the students, find out their likes and dislikes and use these in their learning. The students who go here also can present different behaviours, so strong behaviour management skills are a must. To summarise to be successful in this role you must: ·Love working with Children and students of various abilities and behaviours. ·Have strong behaviour management skills and be able to de-escalate behaviours as and when they arise. ·Be resilient and adaptable. ·Work with a calm approach, even when the students are showing behaviours. ·Show creativity - these students love to express themselves through art, theatre, music - really there are no ends to their skills and talents. ·Engage and be present- students often have a lack of stability so take an interest in them and show them you care, express an interest in what they love to do and show you are here to support them to have the best learning experience possible. ·Work well in a team. ·Enjoy being active- this can be anything from going to the gym, playing football or even dance. This role is to start immediately and so if you think you may love this role, we want to speak to you. We are looking to hear from you if you or anyone you know is an experienced practitioner, looking to transition from a mainstream setting to an SEND setting, seeking a change of career, would like to gain SEND experience or thinking of a career in teaching, nonetheless, this is a great way of building on your skills and experience in a variety of settings in addition to mainstream schools. To apply; send your CV or call and ask to speak with Jess on the SEND team on 0207 444 0009.
