Apprentice Teaching Assistant

An excellent opportunity has arisen for two enthusiastic individuals who are keen to begin an exciting career in education to become Apprentice Teaching Assistants at a friendly special needs school in Guildford.

The school caters for students aged 7-18 years, with smaller than average class sizes of 8 students, and is split across two sites: Lower School and Upper School/Post 16.

What does this role involve?
• Full time apprenticeship
• Supporting pupils aged 7-18 years, who have a range of medical conditions, physical disabilities and mental health difficulties.
• Preparing resources for lessons
• Delivering learning sessions on a 1:1 and small group basis
• Providing emotional and behaviour support to pupils

What will you bring to the role?
• GCSE Maths, ICT and English at grade C or above (or equivalent)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Confidence and a calm manner
• A sympathetic, flexible and diplomatic outlook
• Willingness to learn and gain qualifications in Teaching & Learning, and Special Educational Needs

Learning Support Assistant - Primary Autism Provision

Learning Support AssistantFull time hours 8.30am - 4pmTerm time only£60-£75 per dayASD provisionPrimary SchoolA mainstream Primary School based in Croydon are seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join their team of support staff in their Enhanced Learning Provision (ELP) for Primary aged children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD).The provision is a specialist unit, separate, from the mainstream classes where pupils aged from 4 to 11 receive a greater level of support to access the curriculum. It provides a positive, happy learning environment for children with ASD and tailors the support to each individual student's needs. The provision consists of: 1 class for reception and KS1 pupils and the other for KS2 pupilsA sensory roomA cooking areaDesignated outdoor area for the provisionThe successful applicant will work with pupils across both classes on a split day. This will involve supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis to provide learning support, communicating with them using a variety of methods (such as PECS and Makaton) and differentiating work for their particular needs. Teaching Assistant - Secondary PRU

£60 - £75 per day
An exciting position has become available starting on 17th September 2018 (the new academic year). If you have experience working in a mainstream Secondary school we are keen to hear from you!A Secondary Pupil Referral Unit based in Dagenham are looking for a Teaching Assistant to join their team. The successful applicant will be working in the school's library which is separate from the main school site but functions as a normal classroom.The position is:Full time hours - Monday to Friday 8.30am - 4pmLong term - continuing for the full academic year and potentially beyond if you work well there!Term time onlyAn exciting and varied role to work with students with different personalities and from a range of backgroundsThe school are a Pupil Referral Unit who provide 70 full time places for 11 to 16 year olds who have been excluded from mainstream education on a permanent or short term basis. The class sizes are small, with a maximum of 6 students in each. Many of the students have social, emotional and behavioural difficulties and their education has been disrupted as a result of this.The school provides a very supportive and caring environment for its students to facilitate their return to mainstream schooling or take up a college place. They have high expectations of behaviour and reward students for this with residential trips and team-building activities on which staff will participate.
